Science Day 2023

We had been celebrating National Science Day at GMRT for last 11 years with this year being the eleventh in the series.

We are thrilled to share with you the incredible success of the Pune FOSS User Group's participation in the National Science Day event at Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope - Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (GMRT) National Science Day.

Our aim was to raise awareness about the importance of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) among students, teachers, researchers, scientists, IT professionals, and the general public. We are proud to announce that we were able to achieve this goal to a great extent.

We would like to express our gratitude to all those who participated and supported us in making this event a reality. The hard work and dedication of our team, volunteers, and sponsors made this event a huge success.

We would like to extend a special thanks to our sponsors, especially Josh Software Private Limited, whose support made it possible for us to participate in this event. Without their contribution, we would not have been able to make such a significant impact.

Outcome of the event
The response we received from attendees was overwhelming. It was heartening to see so many people interested in learning about FOSS and its benefits. We had several engaging conversations and were able to educate many individuals about the importance of FOSS in today's world. The event was a huge success, with attendees expressing their appreciation and interest in learning more about FOSS.

As a community, we at Pune FOSS User Group are committed to continuing this journey and spreading awareness about FOSS. We believe that FOSS is the present and future of technology, and it is essential that everyone understands its benefits. Our journey doesn't end here. We will continue to promote FOSS and educate people about its advantages and benefits. We believe that FOSS is not just software; it's a movement towards a better and more open world.

DebConf23

We are pleased to announce that DebConf23, the annual Debian conference, will be held at the Infopark Kochi in Kerala, India, from the 10th to the 17th of September 2023. As always, DebConf will serve as an excellent platform for reaching new contributors and strengthening local Free Software/Open Source communities. We encourage everyone to mark their calendars and join us at this year's event.

We were fortunate to have had the wonderful opportunity to promote Debian strongly and introduce people to DebConf during the National Science Day event at GMRT.
